THE GREAT CHEESE CURD ESCAPE (MAY 2010)
So..... not to be an alarmist... but if there is a lesson to be learned it is DO NOT over ride and WATCH your spacing with cars
Janet and I headed out on 173 W - on time I will have you know - when about 12 sec in front of us two bikes went careening out of control and it was all dirt, steel, chrome and people flying. Fortunately the guys were OK enough with scuffs. Janet got the 411 which was - a car in front of the bikes slowed to turn left - and the bikes behind didnt/couldn't stop in time and they went down... hard. I have never witnessed this before and hope I will never see it again. so lesson learned do not tail gate cars at 50mph!
Sooooo... onward and upward!
Caddywampus Parking was the call of the day... two bikes to one side... 4 bikes on the other side all willy nilly and yet surprisingly no worries. We did make sure Nadine was made aware that she hadnt ridden that much with us and we were putting her up front where we could watch her...<>The intrepid band of 6 headed into deepest darkest Wisconsin... We stopped for a late breakfast... I say late because when someone says we are stopping for breakfast ... and 30 miles later you are pulling in.... that's kinda later... Biscuits and Gravy for everyone! Shall we park? However we want on hard packed dirt...? OK we figured it out.... <> Well, at some point between the elk penis and yak testicles someone got a rumbly in their tummy... and it didnt stop until 8 hours later in Janesville or wherever we stopped at that palace of a gas station! Word to the wise... over processed synthetic AMA approved drugs... ONLY way to go!
The weather lived up to the hype because midway it went from an easy going 70 degrees to 93 degrees! Talk about a heat soak! Wow... no one was ready for that kind of heat and we didnt hydrate our selves as well as we prolly shoulda... We meandered through Wisconsin... a billboard stood out... a picture of a female doctor and the headline... "I am compassionate"... really? I waited for the companion billboard... "I could give a shit because medicare doesnt pay much" but I must have blinked and missed it! DRAT!
Lots of bikes out... with women returning from the Harley thing or just out and about... we made sure to greet most of them... so that we are not known as being "unfriendly" <>!
Ideas for the name were thrown out... 3B's (Badass Biker Babes) Paper Dolls (Nadine refuses to be a Doll anything), The Flaming Women's Symbol with in small print - The Club Formerly Known as... Nevermind!, Chitown Flames, The Cougars, Chitown Cougars, Chiwaukee Cougars,
A Note about "Cougars" it should be noted Caryl... that I suggested if we had COUGAR on our backs that a) we would not get any younger women to join us and B) I would give unsuspecting Men (or women) a heads up as to what we were after... just sayin... I'm not saying...I'm just sayin...
In the meantime we are using TBD and either a big smiley face for the patch or a question mark! I think we should just put big "P's" on our vests and maybe someone would realize that if we agreed to a name FASTER we could then get our patches done FASTER and we would cease to all be prospecting our own club!
We made it finally to the "Open House" but while the dealership was "open" there was not that much going on... Seems they had their shindig on Saturday and Sunday was a mellow "additional 20% off" kind of day... well we MUST shop! Geeze...
We were promised fried cheese curds... but Kutters or wherever we were denied us! FOILED again! Janet has some kind of phobia about parking near Lisa it must be told...so she left us... and rode Route 11 - one of the few roads in Wisconsin not named after a Letter in the Alphabet... but she returned shortly with Karen and Dawn in tow... who needs a GPS!
ice cream and cake! ice cream and cake!
Culvers it was... where we had our ice cream... or custard as the case may be... Parking was again... an adventure... how many road kings CAN you get in one parking spot and NOT have car doors hit you.... a riddle to be solved another day...
We blasted home... in 19 mile intervals to accommodate an over active small intestine of a member to be named later...
Cheese curds were finally purchased and I am happy to report that they made it home in all their many pieces and did NOT morph into one gigantic slab-o-cheese as predicted by one Veterinarian. .. Janet refused to play follow the leader AGAIN so the demerits just keep piling up...
good thing we all wanted to make an "early day of it" as we said a fond farewell around 6ish... and blasted home
Another good day for ... TBD.... but missing and talking about Caryl and Sue! Hopefully Graduation was flawless and Sue we tried to send you a picture of Mulch to let you know we were thinking about you!
respectfully submitted
