WALNUT BURGER RUN (JUL 2010)
WALNUT BALL'S OR BUST...
Hi All Here is a recap of our trip I'm no MJ so....
Here goes- Pago alert from Lisa Friday night woke to pago and looks like it was sitting over Chicago for the day heavy rain early and dropping off by 9am scatter shower the rest of the day. Clear in Wisconsin so we delayed our meeting till 11 I headed out in a little drizzle expecting the worst and wearing my neos ! Frankenstein looks is very becoming. Got to Caryl by 10 and headed off to meet the girls in Harvert. Oh Founders Day parade roads re routed 45 minute detour a little late getting to Harvert. But dry no Pago and dieing in my neos. We strip off the pago attar neos and all and head out. With a shopping trip lined up at ShoppCo all good. I shopped Carl and Lisa shopped and Janet come out empty handed head out again with some big clods over head and Janet keeps looking down and signals to pull over some how there are parts missing from her bike very important parts like her heel shifter best of all were down the block from the Harley dealer man there every where thank goodness. So Janet shopped there finding a very cool summer Jacketand a heel shifter arm! So how did it come off fall of or taken off while in ShoppCo? HMMMM Later down the road much later Carol discovers her rear tail light cover is gone Hmmmm taken or fell off We were robbed in the shoppCo parking lot! I say!
We head off again and stop for Lunch at the Quaker State good wings and rings shopped again only me this time cute biker chick shirt. On the road again headding to LaCrosse so this was funny but I think it's one of those you had to be there for, a wrong turned laned us on a one way bride with a uturn by one furry and a one way the wrong way by three other furries with us all wondering at all different corners what to do next ended up in a parking lot where Carol almost dropped her bike she was laughing so hard and Lisa very clse to peeing in her paints and me and Janet saying what just happened. see you had to be there. But we were in Lacrosse all most to walnut balls.
A very nice ride along the river to our destination (not even trying to spell that). What a cool little town and a great place to eat right on the river. But we all were so full from our late lunch that we all just picked at our food. Walnut Balls are good...
Ok we better hurry up it's getting dark and we were warned about the deer that play on the roads by three biker guys next to us. Not bad look I might add. Had to say good by and find our Hotel. Thank goodness for TOM TOM we stopped for directions and a women gave us a go up there go over there pass the lake and it's over there. She found it in the dark with out a hitch.
What a pretty little ride the full moon shining on the lake and then the moon shining on this shrine or bluff next to our hotel. Caryl took a picture of it very cool. Safe and sound around 10pm.
So we cleaned up got ready for bed Janet in her cute pJ's and Lisa in her boots and knickers and motorcycle socks nice look and decided on a 8am breakfast.
We packed up gassed up and while looking at the map a guy say's you may want to do a scenic route on the Wisc side not much to see on this side! I think he was smoking crack because it was one of the prettiest rides I have every done. River on one side bluffs on the other sweeping twisty roads I just kept thinking he was on crack! the whole time I was riding.
WAY COOL RIDE !
I kept asking Caryl like a kid in a car how much more of this but I did not want it to end. So we made a wrong turn but saw some very cool plane formation lots of little planes in different colors. Quick U-turn and we were on our way over the Mississippi and into Galena to Diry Gurrities. It was very busy and I think they lost our order for a while but we all had a great talk about family and got to know each other a little better.
Off to the leather store more shopping I think everyone but Carol got some thing and she would have if the vest was wider patch won't fit.
Well it was getting late so we decided to head for home. Carol lead the way to give Lisa a break and to get us to the stage coach road. Nice road fun it reminded me of trips I would take with my dad he would go fast to the top of the hill and then slow down so you thought you were flying and you would get butterflies in your stomach. Well this time they were all over my windshield yuck! We stopped said our good bye's and hit the road again and split up on 20 and 75 Lisa and Janet went down 75 and Caryl and I headed for 90 almost rode into the river oh that was a road. 20 was under water down to one lane for a piece.
I lost Caryl at Randell road and I continued on home. What a cool ride and we all agree we need to make it a fall event so everyone can experience those roads.
Thanks Caryl what a great trip
You two were missed.
